POSITION TITLE:                 Fleet Manager

POSITION LOCATION:        1254 Northwest Hwy, Palatine, IL 60067

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Responsible for overseeing daily fleet and dispatch operations to ensure the efficient and timely movement of freight, regulatory compliance, and optimal use of transportation personnel and equipment. Supports delivery performance, cost control, and operational safety in accordance with federal transportation regulations. Specific duties include: manage day-to-day fleet operations, including driver scheduling, load assignments, and route planning; supervise dispatch activities and monitor real-time trip progress to resolve service disruptions such as delays, reroutes, or equipment breakdowns; ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) mandates; coordinate with drivers, dispatchers, and maintenance personnel to maintain delivery schedules and service continuity; monitor and analyze key fleet performance metrics (e.g., fuel usage, vehicle availability, driver productivity) to identify operational improvements; maintain accurate and complete operational records, including driver logs, dispatch logs, vehicle inspection reports, and maintenance schedules; schedule and track preventive maintenance and safety inspections to ensure vehicle readiness and compliance with regulatory standards; enforce company policies related to driver conduct, safety procedures, and cargo handling; and collaborate with departments such as Human Resources, Safety, and Customer Service to align fleet operations with company-wide goals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or experience in commercial trucking, transportation operations, or a related role.

Must have experience with the following:

1.    Dispatch or fleet operations in a commercial transportation environment, including load planning and driver coordination;

2.    Route optimization, scheduling, and real-time operational problem-solving;

3.    Coordinating vehicle maintenance and inspection schedules;

4.    Use of dispatch management software, ELD platforms, and Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Excel, Outlook);

5.    Maintaining accurate documentation for compliance and reporting purposes;

6.    Interdepartmental communication with dispatchers, drivers, and maintenance teams; and

7.    Functional supervision of transportation personnel and application of company transportation policies
