Position Overview
The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire an independent, highly organized and detail-oriented licensed Registered Nurse for Alton Mental Health Center located in Alton, Illinois. This position will serve as Shift Coordinator and will be responsible for performing direct nursing care for people with mental illness on an assigned shift. The successful candidate shall demonstrate a valid Illinois License and good oral and written communication skills, be a self-starter and be able to carry out nursing assignments pursuant to the direction of the Director of Nursing and designee and medical personnel.
Essential Functions- Serves as Shift Coordinator and performs direct nursing care for patients with mental illness on an assigned shift.
- Serves as a resource to lower-level staff.
- Serves as a resource and assists unit nursing staff.
- Participates in meetings and discussions with clinical, medical, administrative and other staff.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires (a) graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing and two years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience OR (b) a bachelor’s degree in nursing and one year of professional nursing experience OR © a master’s degree in nursing.
- Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
- Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays on a rotation basis.
- Requires the ability to serve on an on-call basis.
- Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Requires the ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
- Requires the ability to pass CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training.
- Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers and basic computer skills.
- Requires the ability to physically restrain patients as necessary to prevent injury to patient or others.
- Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
