SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER, INFORMATICS – Abbott / Lake County, IL

Serve as key subject matter for building the appropriate verification and validation strategy in support of software quality assurance in a regulated industry. Develop specifications, test documentation, procedures and reports. Design, develop, and execute manual and automated software test plans for desktop, web, and mobile medical and non-medical informatics products. Lead the analysis of product risks and develop suitable mitigation plans (software, usability, labeling, training, other) in conjunction with Informatics developers. Design and develop black and white box testing strategy, plans, and allied processes. Review testing documentation, develop testing standards, define criteria for testing, analyze test results, and present results to developers and other stakeholders. Work with Selenium and/or Jasmine Frameworks, BrowserStack, Cucumber and Reporting tools. Provide testing and allied documentation in conformance with regulatory, security, and privacy standards for all types of testing such as functional, performance and regression. with centralized software builds and automated testing environments. Provide input to systems and applications developers on testing procedures and requirements, schedules, or potential problems according to regulation and standards. Provide technical leadership, oversight, and guidance for software test engineer(s). Coordinate integration and testing activities for other software test engineers. Responsible for testing (verification and validation) and commercialization of informatics products in compliance with internal policies and procedures, both US and Foreign regulatory standards and requirements. Operate in Agile Scrum-based software development process and testing teams. Interact with project managers and R&D leadership on project scope, timeline, risks and budget. Working with a broad range of technologists and supporting internal and external personnel.

Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering or in a similar engineering field of study with at least five (5) years of progressive professional software development/engineering experience. Must possess at least two (2) years of professional experience in: (i) software quality assurance in regulated industries; (ii) developing specifications, test documentation, procedures and reports; (iii) designing, developing, and executing manual and automated software test plans for desktop, web, and mobile medical and non-medical informatics products; (iv) Selenium and/or Jasmine Frameworks, BrowserStack, Cucumber and Reporting tool; (v) developing and managing sustainable continuous integration infrastructure; and (vi) operating in Agile Scrum-based software development process and testing teams.
