Job Title: Principal Technical Program Management
Job Description:
Responsible for leading the technical execution of large-scale building and infrastructure projects, including data centers and other mission-critical facilities. Defines and manages scalable design strategies that align with overall business objectives and project timelines. Articulate project goals, translating business requirements into technical deliverables, and setting clear performance metrics to guide the design lifecycle from early planning through on-site execution. Oversee design coordination during construction, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with industry standards, building codes, and environmental regulations. Collaborate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to resolve field issues, drive quality control, and maintain alignment across disciplines. Evaluate construction costs, analyzing risks, and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement through the use of internal tools and data systems. Focus on operational efficiency, cost management, and timely delivery of design intent during active construction phases. Telecommuting permitted less than 50% per week within same geographic location as assigned Microsoft office location.
Requirements:
-Education: Master’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.
-Experience: 36 months experience in designing or constructing data centers or large scale mission critical projects with procurement of professional services contracts.
-Specific Skills: This position requires 36 months of experience in each of the following: Project Management; Datacenter Engineering Design Management; Developing or managing project plans, timelines, and budgets for data centers or large scale mission critical projects; Design and Construction coordination; Technical Design; Risk Assessment; Stakeholder Management; and Technical Documentation.
-Telecommuting permitted less than 50% per week within same geographic location as assigned Microsoft office location.

Pay Range and Benefits Information: The offered base pay range for this specific position (EG15763526), in Chicago, IL, is $208,600 to $238,600 per year.
Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus, and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
