POSITION TITLE:                 Mechanics Manager

POSITION LOCATION:        199 Shepard Avenue, Wheeling, IL, 60090

SALARY RANGE:                 $105, 997 to $115,997 per year

JOB DESCRIPTION: Directly supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the shop’s mechanics and technicians. The Manager will assign work, oversee workflow, ensure safety compliance, and maintain shop quality standards. This role may also involve advising customers regarding recommended services and repair timelines. Specific duties include: Oversee and manage a team of five (5) mechanic technicians performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of heavy trucks, including but not limited to: engines (gasoline and diesel), transmissions, brakes, suspensions, aftertreatment systems, electrical systems, valve adjustments, king pin replacement, alignment, AC, etc.; assigning daily repair and maintenance tasks to technicians based on job priority, skill level, and shop capacity; training new employees on safety procedures, use of tools and equipment, shop standards, and customer service expectations; overseeing shop workflow to ensure all repairs are completed on schedule and meet company quality and safety standards; monitoring repair quality, verifying accuracy of completed work, and ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and OSHA requirements; advising customers on recommended services, repair timelines, and maintenance needs; maintaining shop records, including work orders, technician schedules, and safety logs; coordinating with parts suppliers and internal staff to support efficient shop operations; enforcing safety procedures and conducting routine checks to ensure safe working conditions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Associate degree or foreign equivalent in Passenger Trains Conductor, Transportation Operations, Mechanical Technology, Automotive Technology, or a related field., and two (2) years of Experience in mechanical repair, transportation maintenance, diesel/auto repair, or a related field.   Must have skills with the following:

1.    Ability to read and interpret technical repair manuals and diagnostic reports;

2.    Experience with computerized diagnostic tools or maintenance management systems;

3.    Knowledge of OSHA or similar workplace safety standards;

4.    Ability to diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline truck systems (engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, etc.).
