Job Description

Lapmaster International LLC seeks Industrial Engineer in Mount Prospect, IL. Create, develop, and implement efficient manufacturing systems, reducing costs while maintaining standards of operations. Collaborate with senior engineers to design cost-effective manufacturing layouts and building ergonomics for new product lines. Design, redesign, and enhance work areas and layouts so that awkward or uncomfortable positions, repetitive motions, and inefficient operations are reduced or eliminated. Maintain and apply knowledge of best practices, trends, and developments in manufacturing methods, technology, and equipment. Identify and assess various problems and departures from established manufacturing standards and best practices and recommend solutions. Develop and maintain management information, planning, and control systems. Implement methods and modifications to reduce material and production costs. Serve as liaison between engineering and production, coordinating procurement. Assist in Production Planning & Control, Facilities Design, Quality Assurance, and Six Sigma lean manufacturing.

Requires a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field and one year of relevant engineering experience. Experience with Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC), root cause analysis, and implementing process improvement (Kaizen) to enhance production. Experience with value stream mapping, bottleneck analysis, time and motion studies, and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience with manufacturing process and production systems including how materials flow through assembly, machining, and fabrication environments. Experience with supply chain optimization including inventory management- ABC analysis, economic order quantity (EOQ), safety stock calculations, and demand analysis to support production decisions. Experience with statistical process control charts for performance measurement and quality improvement methods (PDCA cycle). Experience with ERP/MRP systems used in industrial and manufacturing environments for material and capacity planning, inventory management, and production scheduling. Experience with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and bills of materials (BOM) to understand product structure, material requirements, cost roll-up, and variance analysis. Experience with the engineering change order (ECO) process for supplier corrective actions, defect analysis, and compliance issues. Requires up to 10% travel to visit vendors and attend business meetings. $87,610 - $92,610 per year.
