Terracon Consultants, Inc. seeks Senior Staff Engineer in Lombard, IL

  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects.
  • Participate in pre-task planning and report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects.
  • Responsible for managing and executing small to medium projects and sometimes more complex projects.
  • Develop the scope of work for routine projects.
  • Prepare cost estimates, specifications, and other project related documents.
  • Analyze data and perform engineering calculations and analysis.
  • Coordinate and supervise field investigations, laboratory testing, and evaluation of respective data, development of recommendations.
  • Develop plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work.
  • Work closely with senior-level project managers to gain project management and engineering experience.
  • Make design recommendations, adaptations and modifications.
  • Prepare work scope, proposals, reports, and plan investigations for approval by senior level professionals for routine projects.
  • Serve as a technical adviser to junior-level project team members.
  • Interact with client and project team in developing scope of services and communicating project progress.
  • Work under the supervision of an Authorized Project Reviewer.

 

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, plus 3 years of related work experience.

Required experience must include any amount of experience in all of the following:

  • Reducing field and laboratory data and testing results.
  • Carrying out bearing capacity and settlement analyses for shallow foundations and axial and lateral capacity evaluations for piles and drilled shafts.
  • Geotechnical reports
  • Conducting laboratory testing, including water content, particle size analysis, Atterberg limits, and Proctor compaction tests.
  • Boring layout, evaluating drilling rig access, and assessing status of utility clearance.
  • Field logging and conducting Standard Penetration and infiltration tests.
  • Utilizing MicroStation and Adobe Illustrator software to generate 2D drawings and geotechnical report exhibits.
  • Utilizing gINT, Slide 2, LPILE, APILE, and MicroStation software to conduct geotechnical analysis.
