Job Description
General Summary of the Position
The work for a Truck Driver will include but not be limited to the operation of articulating dump truck, water trucks, other heavy trucks with the ability to drive in off-road conditions safely. Must understand the operation and maintenance of truck, understand safe positioning for loading, driving in reverse, dumping and traveling on slopes and rough terrain. The ability to work safely around multiple pieces of equipment and site personnel. Will also need to determine the most efficient operation of the truck and capabilities to maximize production on a daily basis. This position also requires knowledge of equipment maintenance and maintain truck in safe operating condition with the ability to identify and report repairs needed by mechanic.
Essential Duties
Operate multiple types of trucks of various sizes and weights, able to safely load, travel in on and off-road conditions and operator multiple functions such as dumping, pumps, sprayers etc.,
Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Director or HR Manager
Follow Daily Procedures & Protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings
Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to supervisor; clean equipment
Assist in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices. Control traffic at work sites by flagging to guide traffic through work areas or following flaggers directions, as required or assigned
Assist as laborers and/or technicians as requested by supervisors and foreman to expedite work as needed and aid personnel to operate the site in a safe mannerPhysical Work Activities and Exposure
Drivers much have good eyesight and better than average coordination in order to operate both hand and foot levers simultaneously. They must have good judgment in order to perform complicated tasks and must be able to work closely with other crafts without constant supervision. Skilled Drivers are constantly alert and observant of their surroundings.
Regularly works in outdoor conditions that include inclement weather. As well as heat and humidity, exposure to dust, asphalt, and hazardous materials. Could also work in an environment near moving mechanical parts.
Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, dust, asphalt, and/or hazardous material
Will frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
The noise level is usually loud
Extended sitting or operation of equipment
Use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls
Reach with hands and arms
Walk short distances, sometimes over uneven terrain
Pass required medical monitoring to work while using respiratory protection including Air Purifying Respirators, and supplied air respirators
Understand and follow KEMRON SOPs for specific task(s)Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
Considerable knowledge of articulating trucks operating principles on multiple types of equipment. Ability to operate the equipment under varying working conditions
Working knowledge of methods, materials and tools used in environmental remediation and construction work
Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations and work safely
Ability to perform manual work requiring periods of extensive physical exertion and potential exposure to adverse weather conditions
Ability to work from construction specifications or blueprints and achieve grades and specifications as design efficiently
Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
Operate GPS and Laser guided indicator systems to meet grade specifications
Determine the correct equipment best suited for specific tasksEducation, Training and Experience Required
Requires five (5) years of experience in operating articulating trucks, two (2) of which must be related to environmental construction
Must have sufficient education to make appropriate arithmetic equations and complete written documentation; or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills and characteristics
40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste worker training preferred
Requires 8-hour refresher training as required by OSHA
Certified first aid and CPR training preferred
