Position Summary
The Director of Finance serves as the senior finance leader for Genfare business unit within SPX's Detection and Measurement segment and is responsible for overall financial performance, forecasting accuracy, internal controls, business contract oversite, and decision support for growth and profitability. This role partners closely with Genfare and segment leadership to translate financial insights into operating actions, capital allocation decisions, and long-range strategy, while ensuring compliance with SPX Technologies' financial policies and all applicable regulatory requirements. The Director of Finance leads the finance team across FP&A, accounting, and related functions, and acts as a key member of the Genfare leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Business Partnership
Serve as the primary finance business partner to the Genfare General Manager and Detection and Measurement leadership, providing data-driven insights and recommendations that shape strategy and execution.
Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with SPX Technologies' and Genfare's growth, margin, and cashflow objectives.
Lead financial aspects of strategic initiatives, including pricing, new product introductions, commercial models, and service offerings across hardware, software, and SaaS.
Support evaluation of M&A opportunities, partnerships, and other strategic investments, including due diligence, financial modeling, and integration planning.
Financial Planning, Budgeting, and Forecasting
Own the annual operating plan, long-range financial plan, and rolling forecasts for the Genfare business, ensuring alignment with segment and corporate expectations.
Drive a rigorous FP&A cadence, including revenue, margin, operating expense, and working capital forecasts, with clear variance analysis and action plans.
Establish and maintain standard financial models and scenario analyses to assess market, product, and operational plans (e.g., SaaS growth, implementation revenue, service revenue, and hardware sales).
Financial Reporting, Analysis, and KPIs
Ensure timely, accurate, and insightful monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for Genfare, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and key operational metrics.
Monitor and interpret key performance indicators for the business (e.g., revenue mix, SaaS ARR, gross margin, project margins, implementation and program management productivity, working capital, and cash conversion).
Provide clear narrative and analysis to segment and corporate leadership, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities along with recommended actions.
Controls, Compliance, and Risk Management
Maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures consistent with SPX Technologies' standards and GAAP, ensuring compliance with all financial, tax, and regulatory requirements.
Oversee preparation for and support of internal and external audits; manage relationships with auditors and key external financial partners as needed.
Identify and manage financial and operational risks, including project, contract, credit, and compliance risks, implementing mitigation strategies where appropriate.
Team Leadership and Talent Development
Lead, mentor, and develop talent as a player coach for the small versatile team, including FP&A, accounting, and related support roles, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Define roles, responsibilities, and priorities within the finance organization to support a growing, evolving product and services portfolio.
Partner with broader leadership to drive cross-functional alignment, improve processes (e.g., project accounting, revenue recognition, implementation and program tracking), and enable effective decision-making.
Cross-Functional and Operational Support
Partner with Programs, Implementation, Operations, Product Management, Sales, and Managed Services to ensure financial transparency and discipline across the project and implementation lifecycle.
Support program and implementation leaders in revenue planning, capacity and resource planning, and profitability analysis for projects and SaaS offerings.
