Staff Quality Engineers, Pre-Production Quality with Rivian Automotive, LLC in Normal, IL. Ensure readiness for execution of development builds, as well as successful factory product launches for different vehicle platforms. Participate in and lead various cross-functional Program and Manufacturing Readiness forums. Provide clear updates on status and recovery plans as necessary at both working and executive level by being able to interact, integrate, and drive results across teams in design, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, manufacturing quality, production operations, production control, service, etc. Provide project status, summary, and issue resolution tracking reports. Help plan, organize, and orchestrate pre-launch activities. Facilitate ramp management with operations teams, identify all needed activities, and coordinate the execution and risk mitigation of those activities according to New Model Operational Plans. Help the operations readiness workstream, ensuring they meet target objectives and escalate/develop recovery plans as needed. Improve product/process quality by defining/implementing recommendations for change. Help set detailed guidelines on Quality standards and Builds KPIs. Identify the root cause of technical issues, recommend and implement fixes using methodologies such as 8D, Lean six sigma and Shainin. Monitor and steer systematic problems through operations system (Rivian Concern System). Ensure product and process designs deliver high levels of capability using DFMEA and PFMEA. Develop process control plans for series production. Execute AIAG Core Tools to improve process and product quality. Domestic and/or international travel required approx. 40% of the time.

RQMTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and 5 years of experience in any occupation involving quality engineering. Experience must include: Launching products from prototype into series production; Complex production operations including production control, material handling, supply chain, quality, and production team; Manufacturing validation processes in relation to complex new products that stretch across various engineering teams and manufacturing centers/factories including methodology, validation plans, and associated KPIs; AIAG Core Tools and significant CQI publications and standards; QMS and testing methodologies; Using 8D, Lean Six Sigma, and Shainin. Salary Range: $126,000-$189,000/yr.
