Job Description
Staff Technical Product Managers with Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies, LLC in Normal, IL. Responsible for providing vision, strategy and roadmap for Rivian’s Manufacturing Software Systems (MARS Platform). Define multi-year capability growth, prioritize features across product lines, and drive alignment with executive leadership. Architect modular MES capabilities that unify manufacturing, quality, logistics processes under a shared platform. Define integration strategy with ERP, PLM, and service systems using API based contracts and event driven data models. Lead cross-functional squads of product managers, engineers and technical analysts to deliver product releases. Define success metrics, adoption targets and measurable ROI. Work to identify opportunities to create additional value and improve business
processes by discovering gaps in existing functionality, troubleshooting, process automation and driving the development/ integration processes. Define and enforce product documentation standards (PRD/FSD/RFC) and contribute to enterprise-wide product taxonomy and knowledge management frameworks. Analyze business processes; define, implement, and drive product requirements, workflows, and plans; uncover roadblocks; define critical paths; and identify resource constraints and any other issues that arise. Lead or conduct solution assessments and validations to ensure that functional and technical specifications meet the identified business needs within the organization. Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT), review test plans and testing methodology to mitigate risks and participate in testing the solution to ensure the solution meets functional and non-functional requirements. Oversee multi-factory deployment strategy, lead go-live readiness review monitors adoption, and coordinate hyper care stabilization post-release. Drive incident cycle time reduction through prompt responses to issues, conduct root cause analysis/incident investigations as needed. Facilitate product steering reviews with executive stakeholders to balance business goals, engineering capacity, and release readiness; make trade-off decisions to align with OKRs. Escalate complex issues for additional analysis and resolution as appropriate. Develop positive relationships with both the business and other functions involved in downstream technical processes to help deliver end-to-end features and system functionalities. Communicate vision, outcomes, and product performance to senior leadership through quarterly business reviews and roadmap sessions. Own Jira/Confluence based product backlog management; define initiatives, manage sprint prioritization, and ensure releases documentation traceability across all MARS modules. Domestic travel required approx. 25% of the time.
RQMTS: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field and 2 years [or a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent as stated above and 5 years] of experience in any occupation involving development of an MES solutions. Experience must including working with the following: Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES); SQL, Python, Go, Rust, NATS, API (gRPC, HTTP), and Postman; PLC Tools including Rockwell Studio 5000 and Ignition 8.1; Wireframe and Prototyping with Lucid Chat and Visio; Snowflake, Tableau, and HEX; Docker, Kubernetes, Github, and Bitbucket. Salary Range: $141,000-$211,000/yr.
