Job Description
Diagnose and troubleshoot heavy truck transmission and drivetrain system issues using electronic diagnostic tools and manufacturer software. Rebuild and overhaul manual and automatic transmissions for heavy-duty commercial vehicles; disassemble transmission units, inspect components, repair or replace gears, bearings, seals, clutches, and synchronizers, then reassemble to manufacturer specifications. Perform drivetrain maintenance and repairs including clutches, drive shafts, differentials, and axles. Calibrate and repair electronic transmission control systems and sensors. Conduct preventive maintenance on transmission systems to ensure reliable operation. Maintain detailed service records of all diagnostics, repairs, and parts replaced. Follow all safety protocols and manufacturer specifications. Work performed at employer's Joliet, IL facility with occasional travel to customer locations for on-site repairs (approximately 10-15% of work time).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School/GED, and three (3) year experience in Heavy truck/commercial vehicle repair and maintenance, with emphasis on transmission systems.
Travel Requirements: Within the Chicago metropolitan area and surrounding counties in Illinois. Travel to customer locations for on-site transmission repairs approximately 10-15% of work time.
