Job Description
V3 Construction Group is seeking a Shop Mechanic in our West Chicago, IL office. V3 perform a wide range of services related to construction of site infrastructure, wetland mitigation and native. Equipment utilized for this work includes a fleet of vehicles along with small tractors, skid steers, landscape power tools, trucks, trailers, and other miscellaneous power equipment.
The Role
As one of our Shop Mechanics, you'll play a crucial role in keeping our fleet of vehicles and equipment running smoothly.
Here's what you'll do:
Perform general automotive repairs (think Ford F-series pickups and SUVs), including oil changes and fluid replacements.
Tackle engine repairs on small tractors, power tools, and landscape equipment ranging from small tune-ups to engine rebuilds.
Diagnose issues with vehicles and small engines, ranging from routine concerns to more complex engine problems.
Provide occasional field repairs for landscape equipment and attachments.
Maintain an organized shop and ensure proper documentation is completed.
Use computers comfortably for work orders, timecards, and purchase orders.
We're looking for:
Foundational knowledge of engine and equipment operation, with an understanding of general maintenance procedures.
Skilled in using hand tools and performing mechanical work safely and effectively.
Physically able to lift/carry at least 50 lbs and work comfortably in varied environments, including overhead lifts and tight spaces.
Strong work ethic with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Clear and effective communication skills, with a willingness to learn and grow.
Mechanical knowledge, including familiarity with truck, trailer, and equipment weights.
Valid driver's license required, Class A CDL a plus.
