Position Overview
The Administrative Assistant I coordinates and schedules the transfer of individuals in custody from county jails to Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) and Classification (R&C) facilities. This individual will also maintain an Adult Daily Population Report, schedule weekly writ movement for individuals in custody, prepare additional reports requested by IDOC administration and maintain reports pertaining to county intakes, bed reports, write schedules and movements. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, task oriented, and organized. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply. Â
Essential Functions- Coordinates and schedules the transfer of individuals from county jails to Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) Reception and Classification (R&C) facilities.
- Maintains an Adult Daily Population Report for the Department.
- Schedules weekly writ movement for individuals in custody.
- Prepares additional reports requested by IDOC administration and maintains reports pertaining to county intakes, bed reports and writ schedules and movement.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.Â
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college preferably with courses in public or business administration.
- Requires one (1) year of professional experience in a public or private organization or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience managing a large volume (more than 200 weekly) of inquiries from multiple sources.
- Prefers intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe Pro or similar programs.
- Prefers at least two (2) or more years of experience managing or refining transport logistics for individuals in custody or similar populations, while implementing cost-efficient routing and scheduling methods.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience compiling and extracting data for reports.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience with the intake, discharge, and/or transfer of individuals in custody or similar populations from other law enforcement agencies.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working in a public safety or similar type of organization.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience communicating and interacting with management, the public, and government officials.
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires the ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
