Job Description

  • Assist attorneys in preparing filings for asylum, hardship waivers, U visa, T visa, and cancellation of removal cases.
  • Conduct detailed client interviews using trauma-informed methods to gather facts relevant to legal claims.
  • Draft declarations, affidavits, timelines, and supporting statements that integrate legal and psychological considerations.
  • Identify psychological themes relevant to eligibility (e.g., trauma, PTSD, fear, cognitive impairments, dependency relationships, hardship factors).
  • Assist in preparing country conditions and psychological evidence to support persecution, hardship, or trauma claims.
  • Support clients in obtaining psychological evaluations and coordinate with licensed mental health professionals.
  • Review psychological reports to extract key findings and assist in integrating them into legal arguments.
  • Research and compile supporting documentation related to mental health impacts of trauma, psychosocial hardship factors, country conditions relevant to persecution or harm, risk assessments for future harm.
  • Maintain empathetic, culturally sensitive communication with clients, recognizing and accommodating trauma-related needs.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing clients for USCIS interviews, asylum office interviews, and immigration court hearings.
  • Conduct legal research on statutes, regulations, and case law relevant to humanitarian relief and removal defense.
  • Draft legal briefs, memoranda, and attorney-ready case summaries with clear analysis of psychological and evidentiary factors.
  • Assist attorneys with social media marketing targeted towards Ukrainian and Russian-speaking communities by creating trauma-informed, client-centered messaging, ensuring culturally sensitive communications, developing educational content with psychological insight, creating content strategy based on psychological barriers, etc.
  • Interpret from Ukrainian and Russian to English and vice versa at clients’ meetings, interviews, and hearings.
  • Assist with translation of civil and legal documents from Ukrainian and Russian to English and vice versa.
