Job Title: 2nd shift Production Lead
Job Summary
The Production Lead is responsible for leading a team of 8-10 Production Associates on 2nd shift while ensuring production, safety, and quality goals are met. This hands-on leadership role oversees workflow, supports employee performance, coordinates with maintenance, and helps maintain a safe and efficient production environment.
Responsibilities
+ Lead and support a team of 8-10 production employees.
+ Coordinate daily production activities to meet schedules and customer deadlines.
+ Monitor production performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
+ Partner with maintenance to resolve equipment issues and reduce downtime.
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
+ Enforce safety standards, PPE requirements, and company policies.
+ Support employee accountability, attendance tracking, and basic personnel matters.
+ Communicate production updates between departments to ensure smooth operations.
+ Assist with production planning, shift performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
+ Manufacturing experience in a production environment.
+ Previous leadership, lead, or supervisory experience.
+ Strong understanding of manufacturing safety practices.
+ Ability to manage workflow, prioritize tasks, and meet production goals.
+ Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift heavy materials when needed.
Preferred:
+ Experience in an industrial paint or paint shop environment.
+ Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
+ Knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures.
+ Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement programs.

Work Environment
Manufacturing facility on 2nd shift. Employees spend most of the day on the production floor, standing, walking, and working around industrial equipment and large materials. The environment can be fast-paced and requires adherence to safety procedures, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout practices. Collaboration between production, maintenance, and management is a key part of the role.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Decatur, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 – $26.00/hr.
