Job Title: MIG Welder
Job Description
This role focuses on fabricating and welding metal components according to blueprints and specifications using MIG welding techniques. You will operate welding equipment, perform both structural and cosmetic welds, inspect your work for quality, and maintain a safe and organized work area in a busy manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
+ Fabricate and weld metal components such as leg stands, cab shields, engine mounts, light bars, and similar parts using MIG welding techniques.
+ Perform MIG tack welding to hold steel components in place prior to final welding by finishing welders.
+ Execute high-quality cosmetic MIG welds on VBOX hopper spreaders and other finished products, ensuring clean, visually appealing welds.
+ Perform straight-line MIG welds as well as in-position and out-of-position MIG welds with consistency and accuracy.
+ Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, welding symbols, and specifications to determine welding requirements.
+ Cut, grind, fit, and prepare metal parts prior to welding, ensuring proper alignment and fit-up.
+ Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively during fabrication and welding operations.
+ Inspect welds visually to verify quality, adherence to specifications, and structural integrity, and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
+ Follow established safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and awareness of hazards in a manufacturing environment.
+ Coordinate and communicate with other welders, fabricators, and team members to meet production goals and maintain workflow.
+ Manage time effectively to meet production deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
+ Maintain a clean, organized work area and handle materials and equipment in a safe and orderly manner.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in MIG welding with the ability to produce high-quality welds on steel and potentially aluminum.
+ Experience welding stainless steel with thicknesses ranging from 14 gauge to 3/4 inch plate.
+ Ability to perform straight-line MIG welds and in-position and out-of-position MIG welds with consistency.
+ Strong blueprint reading skills, including interpreting technical drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
+ Fabrication skills, including cutting, grinding, fitting, and preparing metal parts prior to welding.
+ Experience inspecting welds visually for quality and adherence to specifications.
+ Competence in operating hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively.
+ Around 2-3 years of experience working as a welder in a manufacturing environment, or completion of a welding trade school program.
+ Good manual dexterity with steady hands and strong hand-eye coordination.
+ Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials, and work in various positions such as overhead and crouched.
+ Strong safety awareness, including knowledge of workplace safety practices, PPE use, and hazard recognition.
+ High attention to detail to ensure precise measurements and consistent weld quality.
+ Effective time management skills to meet production deadlines without compromising quality.
+ Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team with other welders, fabricators, and engineers.
+ Problem-solving skills to identify and correct welding or fabrication issues as they arise.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Recent graduation from a welding trade school is accepted in place of 2-3 years of experience.
+ Experience working with stainless steel and sheet metal in a manufacturing setting.
+ Background in general fabrication and fitting of metal assemblies.
+ Comfort working around forklifts and material handling equipment in a busy production area.

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lindenwood, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 – $23.00/hr.
