Job Title: Forklift Operator / Material Handler
Job Description
This role operates forklifts and related material handling equipment to safely move, load, and store products within a manufacturing environment. The position supports shipping, receiving, and production by staging materials, preparing pallets, and completing all required documentation accurately and on time. The Forklift Operator / Material Handler ensures efficient product flow while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Responsibilities
+ Perform forklift inspections at the start of each shift and immediately report any required repairs to the logistics supervisor, lead, or manager.
+ Load all outgoing shipments accurately and safely, ensuring all required shipping paperwork is completed and turned in to the office daily before the end of the shift.
+ Move pallets from the production area to shipping or drying areas in accordance with production and shipping schedules.
+ Wrap, strap, and prepare pallets for shipment or storage as directed by the lead or supervisor, including strapping and wrapping stock pallets in racks.
+ Report finished goods in the system as required, attach pallet tags, and remove all pallets from the Arcomats in a timely manner.
+ Put away stock in designated rack locations and use scanning equipment to record and confirm locations accurately.
+ Deliver packaging materials to the Acromat areas as required by the production schedule to ensure continuous production flow.
+ Maintain good housekeeping by picking up garbage and bags on the floors, emptying garbage containers, and sweeping floors daily before the end of each shift.
+ Notify the lead or supervisor of any tipped pallets in the racks and assist in correcting unsafe or disorganized storage conditions.
+ Work overtime and weekends as required and notified by management to meet production and customer needs.
+ Train new hires on forklift operation, material handling procedures, and safety practices when requested by management.
+ Assist in the materials warehouse and perform other related tasks or assignments within the scope of the business as directed by management.
Essential Skills
+ Proven experience operating forklifts, including stand-up forklifts and reach trucks, in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment.
+ Hands-on experience with material handling tasks such as loading, unloading, picking, packing, and palletizing.
+ Ability to operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
+ Experience in shipping and receiving operations, including order picking and staging outbound loads.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact clearly with supervisors, co-workers, and other departments.
+ Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate loading, labeling, scanning, and documentation.
+ Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of employees and management.
+ Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety and accuracy.
+ Capability to follow written and verbal instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience completing shipping paperwork and ensuring documentation is accurate and submitted on time.
+ Familiarity with scanning systems for tracking inventory and recording rack locations.
+ Ability to train new team members on equipment use, safety, and standard operating procedures when requested.
+ Flexibility to perform various tasks in both production support and materials warehouse functions as needed.
+ Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, such as moving pallets, staging materials, and maintaining housekeeping standards.
+ Reliability and willingness to work overtime or weekends when required by production and customer demands.

Work Environment
This position is based at a manufacturing site in Romeoville, Illinois, within an active production and warehouse environment. You will work around forklifts, pallet jacks, racking systems, and scanning equipment while handling pallets, packaging, and finished goods. The role requires flexibility to work any shift as needed by production, including 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m., 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., or 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. Work hours may change when necessary to meet company and customer requirements. The environment involves regular physical activity, movement throughout the facility, and adherence to safety and housekeeping standards to maintain a clean and organized workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Romeoville, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.50 – $19.50/hr.
