Job Title: Reach Truck Driver

Job Description

This role is ideal for a dependable and detail-oriented Reach Truck Operator / Order Selector who takes pride in accurate order fulfillment and safe warehouse operations. You will work in a large, well-organized facility in Addison, IL, using reach trucks and other material handling equipment to pick, pack, and prepare products for shipment while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

+ Review order sheets carefully to determine product requirements, priorities, and shipping timelines.

+ Select and operate the most appropriate material handling equipment for each task, including reach trucks, stand-up forklifts, and cherry pickers.

+ Locate products within the warehouse using inventory systems, RF scanners, and knowledge of the warehouse layout.

+ Accurately pick and pack orders according to company standards, ensuring correct quantities, item accuracy, and proper labeling.

+ Build stable, well-organized pallets for shipment while maintaining product integrity and preventing damage.

+ Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently at warehouse docks using reach trucks and other equipment.

+ Complete all required paperwork and electronic documentation related to orders, shipments, and inventory transactions.

+ Perform routine equipment inspections and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.

+ Follow all safety guidelines, warehouse procedures, and material handling protocols to maintain a safe work environment.

+ Use RF scanners and computer systems to track inventory movements and maintain accurate stock records.

+ Maintain a clean, organized, and clutter-free work area, including aisles, docks, and storage locations.

+ Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly to coordinate daily tasks and meet production goals.

+ Assist with general material handling tasks as needed, including pallet staging, restocking, and inventory support.

Essential Skills

+ Approximately 6 months of reach truck operating experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.

+ Proficiency operating reach trucks, stand-up forklifts, cherry pickers, and other material handling equipment.

+ Demonstrated experience with order picking, pallet building, unloading, and material handling tasks.

+ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly throughout the shift.

+ Basic computer literacy and ability to use warehouse systems for order and inventory processing.

+ Experience using RF scanners for order selection and inventory tracking.

+ Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality in picking and packing orders.

+ Ability to read and follow order sheets, work instructions, and safety procedures.

+ High School Diploma or GED.

+ Commitment to following safety guidelines and maintaining a safe work environment.

+ Previous experience working in a large, fast-paced warehouse environment.

+ Comfort working with multiple docks and coordinating loading and unloading activities.

+ Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

+ Reliability and punctuality, with a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility.

+ Ability to stay organized and focused while managing multiple tasks and priorities.

+ Willingness to learn and adapt to new warehouse technologies and processes.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, first-shift position, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The warehouse environment is clean, well-lit, and well-organized, providing a safe and efficient space to operate reach trucks and other material handling equipment. The facility is large, offering ample room to maneuver forklifts, with approximately 10-12 docks where trucks regularly arrive to deliver and pick up products. The team consists of a small, diverse group of warehouse professionals who communicate effectively, support one another, and hold themselves to high standards while maintaining a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere. The work involves regular use of reach trucks, stand-up forklifts, cherry pickers, RF scanners, and computer systems, as well as routine lifting and material handling throughout the shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glendale Heights, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $20.00/hr.
