Job Description
Develop and evaluate HelloFresh’s food safety program using scientific and regulatory principles to ensure compliance across all meal kits and ready-to-eat facilities. Manage all food safety licenses and certifications required for the business to be in compliance with all local, city, state, and federal requirements. Serve as recall coordinator as designated, and own the maintenance of recall documentation and execution of recall tasks when required. Establish corporate food safety policies, standards, and procedures across multiple manufacturing facilities. Coordinate cross-functional teams to integrate food safety requirements into product development, production processes, and supply chain operations. Evaluate regulatory requirements and ensure company food safety programs comply with applicable federal and state regulations. Identify emerging food safety risks and implement preventive programs to reduce contamination hazards. Design and develop shelf life validation studies for new product lines. Provide technical leadership for the design and improvement of hazard analysis and preventive control programs. Lead investigations and response efforts related to food safety incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective actions. Review and approve validation studies and scientific documentation supporting food safety programs. Establish corporate standards for sanitation, environmental monitoring, and contamination prevention practices. Develop and oversee food safety training programs to strengthen company-wide food safety culture. Analyze company food safety performance metrics and direct continuous improvement initiatives. Mentor and provide technical guidance to a team of food safety specialists. Collaborate with executive leadership to provide technical recommendations on food safety programs and regulatory compliance. Partner with suppliers and external stakeholders to ensure food safety standards are maintained throughout the supply chain. Represent the company during regulatory inspections, third-party audits, and industry food safety initiatives.
Requirements:
Master’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Food Science, Food Safety and Technology, Biology, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the position offered or in a related role*
OR
Bachelor’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Food Science, Food Safety and Technology, Biology, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the position offered or in a related role.*
*All of the required experience must have included experience with: developing company-wide food safety strategies and long-term risk mitigation plans; directing cross-functional teams to integrate food safety into product development, supply chain, and operations; establishing corporate policies, standards, and best practices for food safety compliance; evaluating emerging food safety risks and designing preventive programs; approving validation studies, scientific documentation, and food safety protocols; leading crisis management efforts for food safety incidents, including regulatory communication; analyzing corporate food safety performance metrics and initiating continuous improvement programs; mentoring and providing technical guidance to food safety and plant teams; collaborating with executive leadership to align safety programs with business goals; overseeing supplier and partner compliance with food safety standards throughout the supply chain; representing the company during regulatory inspections, audits, and industry forums; designing company-wide training programs to strengthen the organizational food safety culture; directing the implementation of environmental monitoring and sanitation standards at multiple facilities; and reviewing strategic recommendations for process improvements and operational risk reduction.
