The field worker will work in the fields completing various tasks, including walking corn fields to
detassel rows of corn and working with corn silk and pollen counts. Duties include hoeing, derouging, and detasseling when necessary, as well as harvesting corn for seed and working in
fields to support seed facilities. The role also involves dehusking seed corn in the Fitchburg
facility, assisting with grading and sizing corn, and helping with bagging once the seed corn is
dried. The worker is responsible for reporting any problematic field conditions such as wind
damage, standing water, or pollination issues like missing tassels. Additionally, they must
continually monitor and report all health, safety, and food concerns or deviations to
management. “Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid $18.00/hr (H2A
workers only)” with a wage that is meets the requirements for the minimum wage rate.
