Overview of the Role

Our enterprise pharmaceutical client is seeking an Account Manager II to support marketing initiatives within their fast-paced, internal agency environment. This role serves as the primary liaison between brand teams and creative partners, helping drive strategic marketing initiatives from concept through execution while ensuring projects align with business goals, regulatory requirements, and brand objectives.

The Account Manager II will oversee day-to-day account management activities, provide strategic counsel, coordinate cross-functional teams, and manage a high volume of projects across multiple workstreams. This role requires a strong understanding of pharmaceutical marketing, agency processes, and digital engagement strategies.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized account management professional with experience in both pharmaceutical marketing and agency environments who thrives in collaborative, fast-paced settings.

The Basics

  • Duration: 12-month contract
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Location: Hybrid, based in Mettawa, IL
  • Onsite Requirements: 3 days onsite per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

Top 3 Required Qualifications

  • 4 to 6+ years of experience in account management, pharmaceutical marketing, or agency environments
  • Strong pharmaceutical industry knowledge, including marketing strategy, product positioning, target audiences, and regulatory considerations
  • Experience managing client relationships and leading projects within an advertising agency or in-house agency environment

Other Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical marketing and promotional material development
  • Experience working with digital channels, platforms, and customer engagement solutions
  • Knowledge of medical, legal, and regulatory review processes within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience supporting both U.S. and Global brand initiatives is a plus
  • Strong client-facing communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a high-volume environment
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with promotional review systems and compliance-driven workflows preferred

Key Responsibilities

  • Account Management & Strategic Partnership
    • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact between marketing teams and agency partners
    • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and cross-functional partners
    • Provide strategic recommendations that support brand objectives and business goals
    • Partner with creative teams and external vendors to develop effective marketing solutions
  • Project Management & Campaign Execution
    • Collaborate with brand teams to develop creative briefs and project plans
    • Recommend promotional tactics aligned with brand strategies and objectives
    • Manage projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and expectations are met
    • Facilitate timely communication between stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
    • Monitor project progress and proactively identify solutions to potential issues
  • Financial & Operational Management
    • Support annual planning and forecasting activities
    • Manage project budgets and financial tracking
    • Conduct monthly reconciliations and budget reviews
    • Ensure compliance with financial policies and project management processes
  • Agency Process & Compliance
    • Maintain knowledge of agency workflows, approval processes, and promotional material development requirements
    • Ensure projects adhere to pharmaceutical, legal, medical, and regulatory guidelines
    • Support compliance with corporate branding standards and promotional review processes
    • Manage documentation, reporting, and project communication to ensure transparency across teams

In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data, including medical data. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment. Additionally, drug products may be present in the workplace.
