Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

+ Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and CAM software (e.g., CamWorks, Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM).

+ Must be able to program CNC 3-axis and 5-axis mills using Cam software.

+ Reading complex prints, designs, able to transfer in and out of CNC machines

+ Work from drawings, sketches, specifications and verbal instructions to make parts.

+ Must be able to navigate Solidworks well, while being able to design and edit models using Solidworks.

+ Must be able to read G & M code.

+ Must also be able to program and operate one or more of the following Specialty machines: CNC Grinder, High Speed Mills or Wire EDMs’.

+ Must be capable and willing to train other machinists, showing them the proper way to use common shop Machine tools and inspection equipment

+ Work to close tolerances

+ Able to inspect own machined components using precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work

+ Setup machines for operation by others

+ Keep work area and equipment clean

+ Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment

+ Able to work independently on projects with little assistance.

+ And other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

+ High School Diploma, or equivalent

+ 3-5 years’ experience in a machine shop

+ Knowledge of precision measuring devices

+ The ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and sketches

+ Must have at least 3 years CNC mill programming experience

+ CAMWorks and SolidWorks proficient

+ A proven mechanical aptitude

+ Advanced shop mathematics skills

+ Broad knowledge of machine shop practices

+ Ability to trouble-shoot and problem solve

+ Strong work ethic and follow through

+ Work is subject to process and final inspection

+ Must consistently use safety devices when operating machines

+ Attention to detail a must

+ Must have a good attendance record

+ Must be able to work well with others in the shop
