Job Description

America's Flooring Store (Arlington Heights, IL) seeks a Senior Flooring Consultant to maintain deep product knowledge across flooring materials, finishes, and installation methods, while delivering exceptional customer service by guiding clients through selections that fit their needs, style, and budget. Specific duties include: assist customers with product selection, design guidance, and flooring recommendations to meet their needs; prepare quotes, measure areas and verify dimensions through on-site or in-home measurements; create basic floor plans and takeoffs to support accurate estimating and installation planning; process sales orders and coordinate with vendors and installation teams to ensure accuracy, scheduling, and timely service; provide installation guidance to customers and installers regarding product specifications, subfloor conditions, transitions, and care/maintenance; handle and resolve customer claims, complaints, and service issues, including escalations, by troubleshooting root causes and coordinating corrective action; maintain showroom appearance, update displays, and ensure product samples are organized and current; manage follow-ups with clients post-sale to confirm satisfaction and drive repeat and referral business; support onboarding and training of new sales staff by sharing best practices and product knowledge; draft and maintain training materials and step-by-step process guides for sales and customer service workflows; and attend product training sessions and stay updated on new materials, trends, and pricing.

Position requires a High School diploma, or foreign equivalent, plus 3 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Sales Person, Category Manager, Purchasing Specialist, or similar position in flooring or home-improvement retail sales. Must have 3 years of experience with each of the following: flooring sales and estimating, including preparing customer quotations and sales orders; handling customer claims, complaints, and service recovery; conducting on-site and in-home measurements and documenting site conditions; preparing basic floor plans and takeoffs using measurement and floor-planning tools; providing installation guidance and coordinating with installers and vendors to resolve field issues; training and onboarding new sales staff and creating and maintaining training manuals; operating point-of-sale (POS) systems and CRM/customer order tracking tools; using Microsoft Office or Google Workspace spreadsheets, email, and calendars for quoting, scheduling, and reporting; applying mathematical skills to calculate area, waste factors, discounts, commissions, percentages, and taxes; and using order management and inventory management software to track products, lead times, and deliveries. Salary: $44,000/yr.
