Job Description
Essential Functions- Under general supervision, serves as a System Operations Controller for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) performing journey-level computer operator duties using basic operating system command vocabulary to monitor data processing environments, multi-processing schedules, and systems for assigned agencies, including reporting abends and system errors.
- Performs job control procedures including review, research, and analysis to resolve scheduling or job stream errors using Job Control Language (JCL), available documentation, and procedures.
- Assists and works closely with technical personnel, such as application and system programming and production control staff to review and report problems or errors with batch jobs and schedules, including performing problem resolution as directed.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
- Requires one (1) year of related data processing experience.
Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
