Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking an organized and detail-oriented person to serve as the Office Assistant in the Mailroom at Robbinson Correctional Center. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with multiple parties. Essential Functions- Processes and inspects all incoming individual in custody mail.
- Accepts and distributes all incoming institutional mail.
- Keyboards a variety of reports relating to mailroom activities and procedures.
- Processes money vouchers for all outgoing individual in custody mail.
- Maintains permanent records of legal mail for each individual in custody concerning dates letters are received and sent.
- Follows requirements of D.R.’s processing of mail.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
- Requires one (1) year of related office experience.
- Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 35 wpm.
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
- Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
