Job Description

The Salvation Army's Madison County 360 Center, located in Granite City, Illinois, is searching for a Maintenance Technician. This is a part-time position, approximately 26 hours per week, with a starting pay of $15.00 per hour.
This position is expected to perform all functions of a maintenance worker which includes, but is not limited to, supervision of any and all volunteers assigned to the maintenance department and ensuring all preventative and regular maintenance is performed on all properties as well as on any and all equipment at each. Most of the work done in this position will be of the physical labor type. This position will have minimal supervision.
The Essential Duties for this position are:
Inspect facilities/grounds regularly and take appropriate action
Maintain the overall appearance and functionality of all properties
Perform and/or supervise the performance of maintenance as assigned
Meet regularly with Corps Officer to discuss maintenance issues and the need to escalate any of those issues.
Ensure vehicles receive proper and timely maintenance.
Operate and maintain all equipment at the corps and the quarters.
Prioritize and perform the duties included on task list.
Minimum qualifications include basic communication with visitors, clients and staff. Ability to read and comprehend job description, cleaning instructions and material safety detail, have good follow-through skills, and work with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize many different projects and workload. Must be energetic, proactive, have a positive attitude, and be willing to work with others. Must be trainable and willing to respond to the needs of the organization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Requires valid driver's license.
Candidates must be capable of frequently lifting 30 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds and frequently moves 100 pounds or more using dolly/cart/truck. Occasionally climb a ladder to work (replace light bulbs, etc.). Some of this work will be outdoors and will be cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
