ECHO Incorporated is an industry leader in developing and manufacturing high-performance, professional-grade outdoor power equipment. ECHO is hiring a Safety Manager for our Lake Zurich, IL location. This role provides leadership for environmental, health, safety (EHS), and physical security across a multi-location manufacturing and distribution network.

The Safety Manager partners with Operations, Engineering, HR, and Facilities to maintain a safe, secure, and compliant workplace while supporting both traditional manufacturing and advanced automation/robotics environments.

Salary: Starting at $120,000; total compensation is based on experience and qualifications.

This is a full-time, on-site position in Lake Zurich, IL.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute EHS strategies, objectives, KPIs, policies, procedures, and action plans.

• Maintain the corporate Safety Management System and ensure consistent adoption across facilities.

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local safety regulations.

• Lead OSHA inspections, audits, regulatory responses, and corrective actions.

• Maintain OSHA logs and audit-ready safety and compliance documentation.

• Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), risk assessments, and ergonomic evaluations.

• Identify and mitigate workplace hazards and assess risks associated with new equipment, processes, and layouts.

• Evaluate safety risks involving robotics, automation, conveyors, AGVs/AMRs, and advanced manufacturing equipment.

• Partner with Engineering on machine safeguarding, functional safety, commissioning, and change management.

• Lead investigations involving workplace injuries, incidents, and near misses, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.

• Partner with HR to manage workers' compensation, return-to-work programs, medical providers, insurers, and adjusters.

• Develop and oversee safety training for new hires, job-specific hazards, equipment operation, and emergency response.

• Maintain emergency response plans and lead drills for fire, spills, evacuation, severe weather, and other emergencies.

• Oversee contractor, vendor, visitor, and temporary worker safety requirements.

• Track and report safety KPIs, including TRIR, DART, near misses, and severity trends.

• Coach leaders on safety accountability and promote a prevention-focused safety culture.

• Oversee physical security, access control, surveillance, vendor performance, and loss-prevention initiatives.

Qualifications:

• 7–10+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.

• Strong OSHA and regulatory compliance knowledge.

• Experience with incident investigations and workers' compensation management.

• Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills.

• CSP or equivalent certification preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
