Position Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day performance of Amber Solvent Recycling's Bensenville facility, overseeing solvent recycling operations, blend-to-spec and repackaging activities for the water treatment chemicals division, warehousing and receiving, quality control, and equipment maintenance. This role ensures product is processed, blended, and shipped safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with EHS, DOT, and customer specification requirements. The Operations acts as the primary point of accountability for plant safety, throughput, and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and supervise daily operations across flexographic solvent recycling and water treatment chemical blend-to-spec/repackaging lines
- Oversee warehouse and receiving functions, including inbound inspection, proper hazmat storage, and inventory accuracy
- Manage quality control processes: incoming material testing, outgoing product spec verification, batch documentation, and Certificate of Analysis (COA) issuance
- Coordinate with Procurement/Supply Chain to align production scheduling with inbound raw material and supplier delivery timing
- Partner with Fleet/Delivery to ensure outbound orders are staged, weighed, and documented correctly
- Hire, train, and manage production, warehouse, and QC staff; enforce safety training and certification compliance
Qualifications
- 5+ years of operations or production management experience, ideally in chemical manufacturing, distribution, or blending environments
- Working knowledge of hazmat handling, OSHA regulations, and RCRA waste requirements
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams (warehouse, QC, maintenance) in a fast-paced, safety-critical setting
- Strong working knowledge of inventory and batch-tracking systems
- Excellent organizational and written documentation skills
