Job Description
Responsibilities:
- CNC Programming: Generate program code using MasterCam and optimize programs for efficiency. Define the best sequence of machining steps and verify success of the first production run.
- Tooling Efficiency: Define and track metrics to verify improvements and sustaining results.
- Tooling Design: Cost analysis, and new technology implementation
- CNC Tooling and Fixtures: Organize existing tooling and work holding fixtures and ensure they are ready for production use. Coordinate all repairs or upgrades with the tool room or outside vendors. Maintain all tooling documentation.
- Create Setup Instructions: Document setup procedures for all CNC production parts.
- Process Capability: Responsible for measuring, reporting, and process improvements to increase process capability
- New Product Development: Coordinate prototype modeling in MasterCam for use in the tool room. Transition products to the CNC department, including tooling, fixtures, and programs.
- Communication and cross-functional teamwork with vendors, operations, and management
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or associate’s degree with significant relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment
- Understand G & M code: being able to modify existing and create new programs
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints (including GD&T)
- Data analysis tools: Root cause analysis, capability studies, and statistical process control
- Able to inspect parts with precision gages, including optical CMM
- Proficiency with MasterCam or a similar software preferred
