Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates the technical service, event staffing, and other service requirements, such as IT support, dining and custodial services for internal and external events. Work requires sensitive judgment in execution of duties to maintain positive public relations with staff and general public. Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills. Duties require an understanding of general management techniques and are performed under the supervision of Technical Supervisor of Conference and Event Services.

  • Coordinate the technical requirements and logistics for internal and external events by consulting with clients, Event Specialists, College departments, and external service providers; respond to client inquiries and requests; and schedule technical setups and services to ensure events are properly supported.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot portable and fixed audio/visual equipment and systems, including sound equipment, staging, teleconferencing and recording equipment, laptops, presentation systems, projectors, video screens, and related technology for events on and off campus.
  • Obtain quotes and coordinate, schedule, and supervise external audio/visual vendors supporting College events, ensuring services meet event requirements and College expectations.
  • Develop and maintain event diagrams, signal flow documentation, and technical schematics to support event planning, equipment setup, and troubleshooting of audio/visual systems.
  • Schedule and coordinate event setups and changeovers to maximize room and equipment utilization and minimize transition time and client costs.
  • Manage assigned audio/visual equipment by identifying equipment needs, researching specifications and costs, maintaining inventory and lifecycle records, coordinating preventive maintenance, and preparing purchase information and account documentation for Manager approval.
  • Compile and invoice charges to clients for technical services provided.
  • Train Event Supervisors and Student Workers in the operation of audio/visual equipment, technical procedures, and event support requirements.
  • Provide on-call and on-site technical support during scheduled events, respond to emergent technical needs, monitor event operations, and communicate issues to the supervisor as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with College and Conference and Event Services policies and procedures; monitor the safety and comfort of patrons and staff, support emergency procedures, and ensure appropriate facility opening, closing, and event-related requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


    • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • High School Diploma required.
      • Training/Certification or Associate degree in related field required.
      • Associate Degree preferred.
    • Experience
      • Three years comparable experience in a large multi-purpose facility, specific knowledge of set up and operation of sound and computer equipment required.
      • Three years comparable experience in a large multi-purpose facility, two years experience in sound, lighting, and/or specialized computer equipment preferred.
      • Advanced skills and experience in stage rigging, sound, lighting, and projections preferred.
      • Experience with hybrid events, streaming, and networked AV strongly preferred.
      • Technical Skills: Audio mixing, video projection, streaming/encoding systems, conferencing platforms, AV-over-IP, and Dante networking preferred.


    Working Conditions:

  • Sound systems, built-in, and small teleconferencing systems, including mixing boards, amplifiers, etc., theatrical lighting systems, including spotlights, dimmer boards, etc.; telephone; computer; and freight elevator.
  • Operations of computerized lighting and sound systems.
  • Variable schedule including evenings, weekends, early mornings, and extended event days.
  • Requires physical activity including lifting over 50lbs, equipment transport, and extended standing.
  • On-call /on-call support for scheduled events required.
  • Heavy lifting may be required.
  • This position requires a background check and drug screen.

    Hiring Range:
    7 Hourly Starting salary beginning at $21.70/hourly, based on education and experience
