Job Description

Gateway Truck & Refrigeration, a Carrier Refrigeration, Volvo, and Hino truck dealer with multiple locations in Illinois, Missouri and Wisconsin is in search of entry level Diesel Truck Mechanics for our truck repair shops.

Diesel Truck Mechanic Duties include:

Performing mechanical repairs of medium and heavy-duty diesel trucks
Perform all levels of Preventative Maintenance inspections and repairs
Road test Vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure they are properly working
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment using testing equipment such as laptops, motor analyzers, and temperature and pressure gauges
Identify warranty repairs and document properly on the repair order
Keep work area clean and safe
Other duties as assigned
Diesel Truck Mechanic Requirements:

High school degree or equivalent, (preferably trade school as well)
Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record (preferably with a CDL or ability to obtain one)
Must pass DOT physical and drug screen, as well as background check
0-2 years experience servicing and maintaining diesel engines
Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair medium to heavy-duty vehicles (or be willing to learn)
Full set of own hand tools (preferably)
Must be detail oriented and able to work in a team environment
Must keep work environments clean and comply with all safety regulations
Willingness to attend additional training when needed to advance in the profession (paid for by the company)
