Job Description

We are seeking a full-time exempt Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Data Analyst to join our Information Technology department.

This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining GIS data environments, either on-premises or in the cloud, and providing data analysis as well as the development of reports for general operational reporting, GIS reporting, and decision support reporting needs.

Functions to be performed by this position include assessing business requirements, defining strategy, installing and supporting GIS reporting tools; implementing and supporting operational GIS data and systems for general and GIS data; creating general and GIS reports; serving as the technical resource for GIS data exchange with external partners; serving as project lead as assigned.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

Setup and use GIS tools (e.g. QGIS, Google Earth, ESRI) GIS data aggregation, creation & maintenance Perform data analysis on general operational data & on GIS/Spatial data Collect, transform, and load GIS (Geographic Information Systems) or spatial data from internal & external sources into corporate repository or databases Review/interpret various data sources to create or verify GIS data accuracy & completeness Configure, clean & process GIS/spatial data to correct missing or inaccurate data Generate cleansed GIS/Spatial related datasets or reports as needed Provide cleansed GIS/Spatial datasets & reports to external geospatial service partners (such as VETRO-FiberMap, Gadberry) for the creation of fully populated GIS/Spatial data sets or reports Load fully cleansed & populated GIS data sets into corporate repository or database for internal presentation and visualization as needed Convert spatial data between coordinate systems & compile maps with appropriate coordinate systems for measurement or presentation as needed. All other duties as assigned

Requirements for Position

Authorization to work in the United States High School Diploma or equivalent is required Current driver’s license Adaptable to fast-paced, high-change environment Must demonstrate personal accountability; be punctual for appointments and meetings Regular & predictable attendance required Demonstrate good communication, negotiation, analytical, problem-solving skills Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language & have strong customer service orientation Self-motivated and directed, yet willing to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Desired Skills & Competencies

Good understanding of GIS & spatial data & datasets & how to configure, transform, & clean Experience using spatial queries & mapping visualization tools (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS, MapInfo, SQL Server, Google Map) Familiar with creating data pipelines for internal or third-party data Some familiarity with working with structured and unstructured information including diverse data formats such as raster, vector, tabular, etc. Experience generating reports & performing data analysis on general & GIS data Experience with managing new & existing data environments to curate & enhance data insights General awareness of GIS industry vendors & trends Any database administration experience is a big plus Experience with data import/export & ETL services/tools is a big plus Experience with performing data ETL & data cleansing is a big plus Ability to perform duties independently & with general supervision Strong attention to detail & analytical skills Ability to manage time & priorities effectively to meet the deadlines

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Fast-paced environment with multiple changes to schedules & fluctuating priorities.

Must pass a background check & drug screen.
